BuildDesk - Launch

BuildDesk created a name for itself by offering relevant counseling


The challenge
In the beginning of 2006, new building laws made regulations affecting building designers about the preparation and reporting of digital energy calculations. BuildDesk combines consulting competences and a strong tool in a user-friendly calculating program that can, among other things, calculate the energy consumption rate of a building and produce documentation for building permission.

BuildDesk, a part of the Rockwool group, was virtually unknown in the building and landscaping branch. Regardless, they were heavily dependent on consulting engineers and building constructors; it was only through their familiarity with and trust in BuildDesk as a deliverer of energy consulting and calculating programs that BuildDesk could improve its position and sales.

The strategy

  • Parent company Rockwool introduced the first phase, which put focus on the new topic in the branch
  • Consulting engineers and building constructors became involved in dialogue about their knowledge of and opinions on the new energy calculating regulations
  • Rockwool reported the results of the dialogue via a report
  • PR was stimulated around the report, generating wide knowledge of BuildDesk
  • Rockwool followed up by giving a seal of approval to BuildDesk as the professional deliverer of calculating programs, training courses and information and offers on relevant tools and courses
  • BuildDesk then overtook communication responsibility with the target group

Results

  • 146% of the year’s expected sales was accomplished within the first month of the year
  • Approximately 70% of the target group independently sought after information about BuildDesk
  • The report was downloaded more than 3,500 times throughout the course of the short campaign
  • PR in trade and other publications spread knowledge of BuildDesk
