The challenge
Skandia Pension wanted to make it easier for each individual customer to receive the right retirement plan. The workplace pension advisor usually makes the decision of how the pension payments should be used. There’s often not much time to go over the different options, and it can be difficult to get a handle on the intricacies of the terms investment, stocks and venture capital. Most end up choosing the safest solution, even though they could get more out of their pension by choosing a product with higher risk – and Skandia Pension also benefits from their clients choosing retirement plans that include a certain amount of risk.

The strategy
The solution was pensionscoach.dk, a service that helps the customer prepare for the pension advisor meeting and can, with time, be expanded upon with more advice-giving functions.

• The workplace encourages the employee to go to pensionscoach.dk before meeting with the pension advisor
• At the site, the pension coach uses a questionnaire to cover such topics as opinions about his/her economy, economic priorities, venture capital and experience with investments
• Immediately after the employee has completed the questionnaire, he/she finds out through graphics and text which Skandia pension service he/she would most benefit from
• The employee then receives an email with his/her pension information, as well as suggested questions he/she can ask the pension advisor to learn more about the recommended pension service
• The employee can also choose to send the pension profile to his/her pension advisor and Skandia’s customer service center

Results

• Positive responses from both pension advisors and users
• 2,048 have completed the survey at pensionscoach.dk
• Skandia Pension has gathered useful knowledge that is being used in a dialogue to counsel their customers
• The pensions coach concept can accommodate further development and more functions – ex. an evaluation after the meeting with the pension advisor
• The campaign paved the way for more product-oriented Skandia Pension campaigns in the future
